Who We Are

Samuel Sekitto

Saved On Street was founded by Samuel Sekitto in 2014. Sam was in the war era shortly after the regime of Idi Amin and was raised by his extended family. Because of this, he ended up living on the streets for four years at the age of 14 years in Kampala.

After his life transformed, due to the support of a Christian youth organization, he knew that it was his calling to reach back to uplift his fellow street-children. His substantial experience working with youth and children in several countries sparked his vision to start Saved On Street. His aim is to help street-children by placing them in a safe environment and helping them become self-sufficient.

He also wrote a book about his story entitled “The Lost Child,” which explained his life story and experiences as a street-child. He is now using his experiences to make a sustainable impact in the lives of the children in Luwero and Kampala. –> Get the Book now

The Team

Saved On Street is managed by a group of volunteers. Many of the volunteers come from Uganda, the United Kingdom, and Germany. We are connected to different churches in Uganda and the UK. Most importantly, we collaborate with the social workers in Uganda.

Thus far, our team in Germany has been successful in coordinating the sponsorship programs for our children. Birte, Maren, and Lisann are staying in touch with the sponsors in Germany and trying other ways to raise support for the children. For example, they have been selling crafts the children made, and other handmade figures, to raise support for our project.

Currently, we are unable to hire people, because our main focus is on the well-being of the children. Therefore, we are grateful for the dedication that our volunteers have shown by focusing on the work and creatively thinking of ways to support the children. Needless to say, you are always welcome to join us in enriching the lives of these vulnerable children. Please click on this link, if you are interested in seeing how you can serve.
